Right now I’m trying( and yes I have to say that because I don’t read books very often, so it goes really slow some times) to read “Kafka on the shore” by Haruki Murakami. Now don´t get me wrong when I say that I read this book slowly, I think it´s a good book, written in a very special kind of way, and I think it´s very interesting, it´s just that I don´t have much time for reading right now…

This is the plot summary I found on Wikipedia:

Comprising two distinct but interrelated plots, the narrative runs back and forth between the two, taking up each plotline in alternating chapters.

The odd chapters tell the 15 year old Kafka’s story as he runs away from his father’s house to escape an Oedipal curse and to embark upon a quest to find his mother and sister.^[4] After a series of adventures, he finds shelter in a quiet, private library in Takamatsu, run by the distant and aloof Miss Saeki and the androgynous Oshima. There he spends his days reading the unabridged Richard Francis Burton translation of A Thousand and One Nights and the collected works of Natsume Sōseki until the police begin inquiring after him in connection with a brutal murder.

The even chapters tell Nakata’s story. Due to his uncanny abilities, he has found part-time work in his old age as a finder of lost cats (a clear reference to The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle). The case of one particular lost cat puts him on a path that ultimately takes him far away from his home, ending up on the road for the first time in his life. He befriends a truck-driver named Hoshino. Hoshino takes him on as a passenger in his truck and soon becomes very attached to the old man.

Nakata and Kafka are on a collision course throughout the novel, but their convergence takes place as much on a metaphysical plane as it does in reality and, in fact, that can be said of the novel itself. Due to the Oedipal theme running through much of the novel, Kafka on the Shore has been called a modern Greek tragedy

I hope you all had a great New Years Eve! I had a lot of fun at my friend, Marius’s place We were only four people (Marius, Heidi, Tiril, and myself), but we had a great time and as allways we ate a lot of food! I might put out some pictures, but I have to get them first…

I think that 2010 is going to be a very exciting year: First of all I am going to Cuba with my school! I’m really looking forward to that because I have never been there before, and I think it looks so pretty. Then the next thing is finding out what I want to do for, oh well maybe the next 4 years of my life… As you know I REALY would like to study in Tokyo, Japan, but it’s going to be hard to do because it’s kind of expencive and I would need to learn a new language, but it is NOT impossible. But if anyone have tips or something that might be helpfull, I would really aprechiate the help^^

I would really like to go and study in Japan, so therefore I look at a lot of videos and other stuff from Japan (Tokyo). I found this video and it just made me want to go even more! XD

Birthday :D

So yesterday was my birthday… and I had so much fun! It was a really nice day. First I got a lot of gratulations during breakfast, and the other students sang for me and another student that also had his birthday^^ Later on I went to town with some friends, and I bought a dress, shoes, cardigan, tights and a purse (I´ll try and put out pictures of them later:). And then, we went to eat Orea cake on Peppe´s! We got party hats, and my cake was really nice (as you can see on the picture). It was a lot of fun I was kind of surprised how many that wanted to celebrate my birthday with me (since we have only been here for 3 weeks, but I was super happy when I saw how much fun they had (at least it looked like they did ) hehe).

I also got a lot of text messages, e-mails and messages on facebook, so that was really nice –> THANK YOU!

Ok, so it´s been way too long since I last wrote something on my blog ( but I have been kind of busy, but I´ll try to write more often). I´m also going to put more pictures here, but I haven´t got all of them into my computer, but I will do that as soon as possible ^^,

I can´t believe that I have been at my new school for almost a month now! Time fly by super fast here, and I think this year will be over before I know it… I´ve gotten to know more people, and they are really nice and funny. I really like my class and I think that we will have a lot of fun during our wonderful classes on Wednesday and Thursday =)

This week was our first week with actual classes, so I had a class called “Filmkunnskap” (movieknowledge <— don´t know if that´s the right way to translate it), and photo class (I got a camera that´s mine for the whole year! I´m so gonna take a lot of pictures , and guitar (I´m actually buying a new guitar, and I´m getting it later today. I can´t wait to get it ). So I really like all my classes, and I think that I´m going to learn a lot this year.

I´ll write more later (but I have to go and clean the hallway hehe)

Inglourious Basterds!

A couple of days a go, me and some of my classmates went to see “Inglourious Basterds” by Tarantino. I was super excited to see it, as you can see I have wanted to see it for a while now. Here´s what I think about it:

WARNING! IF YOU KEEP READING, AND YOU HAVEN´T SEEN THE MOVIE, THERE MIGHT BE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MOVIE HERE:

Tarantino is SO good at his job! I really liked this movie It has a ton of humor, action and a pretty good story too. The scenes are so different than other movies, and this just makes the movie even more special. There were some scenes that were almost too nasty to watch, but all together a really cool action movie. I think my favorite part was when Brad Pit pretended to be italian xD super funny!

Munich <3

So during my last days of summer vacation, I went to visit my friend in Munich, Germany. It was SO much fun! She showed me some of the churches, castles and other buildings. And we went to the movie (we saw “The Proposal”, I really liked it!). We also had a BBQ at some of her friends house, it was super nice and a lot of fun. And after that we went out clubbing THAT was really awesome xD

So all together, I really liked Munich. It´s a great city for both people who live to see great churches, history and other cultural things, but also people who love to shop, go to cool coffee shops and go clubbing!
